My husband and I drove in our rental car to Rum Point and spend a few hours. It's a cute, colorful, quaint area and worth a visit if you like a relaxed, casual atmosphere. You can opt to do nothing at all but take in the sights, or you can play volleyball, snorkel, sun yourself, ... The bar has a has a nice drink menu and the food choices were decent. There is also a nice gift shop in the grove of small buildings.

Rum Point Beach : Secluded on northern Grand Cayman, actually benefited from Ivan, and is bigger than ever ……40 mins by car…a good beach, got its name from the barrels of rum that once washed ashore here after a shipwreck. Today it is dreamy and quaint, surrounded by towering casuarina trees. Most of these trees have hammocks suspended from their trunks. Featuring cays, reefs, mangroves, and shallows, Rum Point is a refuge that extends west and south for 11km (7 miles). It divides the two "arms" of Grand Cayman. The barrier reef area (which you can swim out to) is up around at Rum point, good snorkeling there. Remember that this is a British overseas territory so drive on the left.
